You must be 18 years of age or older to submit a photo for this contest and to vote online. No purchase necessary. This contest is void where prohibited by law.
Winners will be notified by email. If a winner is unreachable after seven (7) days, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected. If the Post-Dispatch cannot find an eligible winner for the prize, that prize will not be awarded. Winners are not declared until results are reviewed by contest judges and winners posted on the contest site.
The Post-Dispatch reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value. Any entry that does not receving any votes will not be considered for any of the winning prize levels.
Employees of the Post-Dispatch, its respective parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising sponsors and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of each are not eligible to participate in this contest.
Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the contest judges, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.
Entrants further grant to the Post-Dispatch the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Contest.
The Post-Dispatch reserves the right to use any and all information related to the Contest, including information on contestants obtained through the contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.
The Contest and all of the related pages, contents and code are copyright, UPICKEM, Inc., and/or SecondStreetMedia. Copying or unauthorized use of any copyrighted materials, trademarks or any other intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.
Each winner, by acceptance of the prize, agrees to release all Sponsors, and their parent and subsidiary companies, their officers, directors, employees, agents, shareholders, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, and advertising agencies from all liability, claims, or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, or use of the prize.
UPICKEM, SecondStreetMedia, Lee Enterprises and the Post-Dispatch are not responsible for Internet crashes or slowdowns caused by network congestion, viruses, sabotage, satellite failures, phone line failures, electrical outages, natural disasters or acts of man or God.
All results posted are unofficial until winners respond to e-mail notification.
Each winner is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes and will be required to complete an IRS form W-9. Sponsor reserves the right to withhold prizes until completed form W-9 is received.
This contest is not intended for gambling. If it is determined that a contestant is using the contest for gambling purposes they will be disqualified and reported to authorities.
Winners will be disqualified for any prizes should they be deemed ineligible under these official contest rules.
The Post-Dispatch reserves the right to change the Official Rules at any time.
This contest is officially sponsored by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. One valid entry per pet. All federal, state, local and municipal laws and regulations apply.
Proceeds from the Pet Stars St. Louis! Photo Contest, excluding a small processing fee, support Newspapers In Education, a literacy initiative of the Post-Dispatch. No donation necessary to enter contest.
Photo Eligibility
- Photos of animals that are NOT pets according to the zoning laws where you live are not eligible and will be disqualified for any prizes should a winner be later deemed ineligible. Check your local and state regulations.
- Pet Stars St. Louis! reserves the right to edit a submission prior to or after its approval, or refuse a submission deemed inappropriate, or of poor quality.
- Pet Stars St. Louis! reserves the right to edit any submission for any reason.
- Photo can be black & white or color. Digital photo must be in jpg format of at least 300 dpi.
- Poor quality photos will not be accepted.
- Copyrighted photos will not be accepted without a photographer’s release.
- All photos become the property of the Post-Dispatch and will not be returned.
How to Enter
- NOTE: This is an online contest! Mail-in entries will not be accepted.
- Photo submissions with a $10 donation are processed and completed online with a credit/debit card.
- Only one photo per pet. You may submit more than one pet provided each pet is entered with a separate photo and donation.
- Donations benefit Newspapers In Education, a literacy program of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. To enter a submission without a donation, submit an entry form, available at the Post-Dispatch, and a hard copy photograph of your pet, in person, at 900 N. Tucker Blvd. St. Louis, MO. Tuesday April 21 & April 28 between 1pm and 2pm only.
How to Vote for your Favorite Pet Photo
- NOTE: This is an online contest! Mail-in ballots/voting will not be accepted.
- Voting and voting donations are processed and completed online with a credit/debit card.
- You may vote online as often as you like. There is no limit to donation votes online. Votes are .25 cents per vote. Minimum online vote donation is $5 (20 votes) and are in specific dollar increments.
- Tell your family, friends, relatives and all your Facebook, Myspace, Twitter & Linkedin friends to vote for your pet online!
- Voting donations benefit Newspapers In Education, a literacy initiative of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. To vote without a donation, submit, in person, an original ballot, available at 900 N. Tucker Blvd, St. Louis, MO on Tuesday May 5 & May 12 between the hours of 1pm and 3pm only. No photocopies, facsimiles, or reproductions of the ballot will be accepted. In person voting ballots are submitted without a donation and are limited to ONE VOTE PER DAY of the contest. No more than 32 in person votes per person will be accepted during the voting period for in non-donating voting. All 32 votes may be submitted at once on one ballot.
